Bound for Pretoria

Bound for Pretoria is a transcript that has series of letters with detailed information about the travels of Bishop of Pretoria. The letter starts with 8 August 1878 travel of Mrs Bousfield, the events that occurred that period. A note by Henry Adams stating the intention of the Bishop to write occasional papers sharing history of what various churches have done in South Africa. Representatives of the following churches worked in South Africa, Church of France, American Board of Mission, Church of Canton de Vaud, Norwegian, Hermansberg, Dutch Reformed, Free Church of Scotland, The Rhenish Missionary Society, Roman Catholic, Wesleyan, United Methodist, Presbyterian, London Missionary Society, Church Missionary Society and Universities Mission and S.P.G.

The scrapbook has pamphlets of bible studies, Christchurch (North Brixton) Youths' Institute's first annual report of 1876 -77 covers information about the previous first annual meeting minutes, list of prizes and certificates awarded to members, Science and Art Certificates, donations and prospectus for sessions from 1 October to 31 December 1877 with information about the terms, privileges of membership and how reading room has been operating previously.

One of the topic from "In the Transvaal series" article is focusing on polygamy and the tradition followed for women to be married. Two press clippings that mention the ordination of Reverend Henry Adams in Pretoria, 1883 and the reports for different quarters of 1884 while Reverend Henry Adams was part of the Missionary at Lydenburg.
