Certificate to the effect that he has been sworn in as a special constable for the East Rand Proprietary Mines, signed by G.G. Munnik, Speciale Rechterlijke Commissaris, Boksburg.

A note in English by Heldzingen explains that the reason for his being sworn in was to enable him to carry a revolver when he took the gold output to Johannesburg.
