Detainees Parents Support Committee (DPSC), Records

Some of the earlier material appears to have been lost in the Khotso house bombings where the DPSC offices were located. It should also be noted that the DPSC operated under extreme conditions of State repression (banning orders, detentions etc.) and as a result certain transactions (meetings etc.) went unrecorded. Although the DPSC did not operate in isolation, the sheer numbers of those detained and the impossibility of dealing with every case should also be taken into account.

Simon Nkoli, Diaries written in detention

Diaries kept by the detainee Simon Nkoli in prison.

Simon Nkoli was arrested and charged as one of 21 accused, all of which were associated with the United Democratic Front (UDF). The main charge was treason, and the protracted trial became known as the Delmas Treason Trial.

Simon Nkoli was also a gay rights activist. His personal papers are housed at the Gay and Lesbian Archive (GALA) at Wits University, among them missing pieces of his diary on tissue paper.
