The publication 'Spark' was an independent newspaper, but socialist aligned and supported by the Communist Party of South Africa, between 1962-1963. The newspaper covered national and international politics, including homelands, Apartheid legislation, sports and trade unions.
The first set comprises four albums containing coloured and black and white plates and prints cut out of books and journals, together with manuscript notes. Volume 1 - Frogs, fishes, invertebrates; Volume 2 - Reptiles; Volume 3 - Birds; Volume 4 - Mammals.
