Biographical history
Juergen Schadeberg is a South African photographer. He worked for the DRUM magazine in the 1950s and later became a freelancer. He was forced to leave South Africa in 1964.

Juergen Schadeberg took a number of photographs of Nelson Mandela during the 1950s, and also after his release from Robben Island and during his time as the first democratically elected President of the Republic of South Africa.
