A substantial part consisting of Petty Cash and other accounting books were given to the University of Johannesburg, History of Accounting on the Rand Project, including a Mine cash book of 1897, from the Robinson Deep G.M. Company, and a Manager's Cash Account book, from an unknown mine, 1936.
Other items were given to the Head of School, School of Mining, University of the Witwatersrand, which were mainly technical record books and maps, including the following:

Immediate source of acquisition or transfer
The record books were found in the ceiling of a building situated on the former Luipaardsvlei Estate in 2010, and subsequently forwarded to Historical Papers.

The collection contains record books originating from the former gold mines Robinson Deep Gold Mining Company, Luipaardsvlei Estate and Gold Mining Company, Rietfontein Consolidated Mines and few unidentified. They cover the years 1904-1972 of gold mining operations in Johannesburg.
