Archival history

These papers were initially deposited by the Legal Resources Centre (LRC). Please refer to collection item C, which contains an interview with Joel Joffe, where he explains the history behind this collection, from 1964 when the trial ended, until 1994 with the handover of the Papers to Nelson Mandela and the LRC.
The Nelson Mandela Papers subsequently changed ownership from the LRC to the Nelson Mandela Foundation.
