Historia
The South African Indian Teachers' Association (SAITA), formerly known as the Natal Indian Teachers' Society, was established in 1925. It then became a national organisation whose main aim was to bring about improvements in the prevailing educational conditions. It was felt that such an organisation was needed to deal with the issues affecting Indian teachers employed by Indian Affairs, to promote unity and to act as a watchdog. SAITA's first Annual General Meeting was held in Lenasia in February 1968.
