Burmester describes his tour of South Africa. He feels that Hertzog will resist drastic left wing influence in his party. He feels that racialism is growing and causing a rift between English and Afrikaners. He does not find Hofmeyr's personality impressive.

Burmester hopes to see Crewe in London but finds the 3rd November an awkward date. Is sailing for England on 27th February.
