Account - From E.A. Maund

An account of Matebele mission to Queen Victoria; describes envoys, sent in charge of Maund with Colenbrander as interpreter and how they were received at Windsor by the Queen. Envoys were greatly impressed with kind reception and with all they saw, particularly Life guards, gold goblet, s etc.

In reply to message of Lobengula's indunas, Umsheti and Babaan, to Queen Victoria. Advises Lobengula not to grant concessions too quickly, to trust High Commissioner in S. Africa. Queen will consider sending representatives to Matabeleland.

Agreement

Draft of an agreement made between Lobengula and Lord Gifford, submitted to Lobengula for his consideration. In return for £100 King grants mining concession in the Mazoe River basin and boundaries are defined.

Cawston and John Oakley Maund, with provision for 2 more directors to be appointed. Attached is schedule with names of shareholders of old Co., no. of shares held by them in old Co. and no. to be held in new Co.
