Written as from a missionary station in Zululand, being a mystery story of the machinations of the "Marquis", a supporter of the Bourbon cause in France and of his efforts to destroy the last heir to the Napoleonic tradition, the (mythical) son of the Prince Imperial who was killed in the Zulu War, This son is living as a trader in Zululand and has to be removed in case the Napoleonic supporters rally to his cause.
