This collection is far from complete. It contains correspondence, minutes, reports, evidence and manuscripts covering a period roughly between 1936-1955. Material includes items from the Penal Reform Committee which operated under the SAIRR and worked in close conjunction with the Legal Aid Bureau, this Committee later became an independent body known as The Penal Reform League; other items include evidence submitted to the Penal Reform Commission.
