143 men in various cities around South Africa made simultaneous declarations to refuse to serve in the South African Defence Force (SADF). Here Andre Zaaiman, a former infantry captain and combat veteran, explains his reasons at a press conference held by the Cape Town Group EDICESA (Ecumenical Documentation and Information Centre for Eastern and Southern Africa).
