Simon Nkoli, Diaries written in detention
Diaries kept by the detainee Simon Nkoli in prison.
Simon Nkoli was arrested and charged as one of 21 accused, all of which were associated with the United Democratic Front (UDF). The main charge was treason, and the protracted trial became known as the Delmas Treason Trial.
Simon Nkoli was also a gay rights activist. His personal papers are housed at the Gay and Lesbian Archive (GALA) at Wits University, among them missing pieces of his diary on tissue paper.
