Zulu, M.E. (State vs.) Incomplete record (not clear what the charge was)
This is a case of assault on the client. The second accused assaulted the client, but claimed the client had provoked the attack and been the aggressor. The matter was settled out of court for R750.
D Zulu had been off sick and returned to work with a medical note saying he had herpes zoster (shingles). The employer, Profile Steel Design, demanded that he be tested for HIV, but Zulu refused. He was told that he would not be allowed to resume work unless he did so. The LRC wrote to the employer declaring a dismissal dispute. Profile Steel Design then allowed Zulu to return to work.
