The collection consists of a variety of records and documents related to anti-apartheid movements all over Japan. Operational records of the group in Osaka, "Comrade Africa Committee", include meeting notes, plans for events, drafts for publications, name lists, fliers, questionnaires, photos, clippings, and correspondence. Newsletters of many other Japanese movements which networked with Comrade Africa Committee are also included.

The publication is a photocopy of a typescript and includes memoirs based on the extensive family correspondence, diaries and newspaper cuttings. The author has dedicated them to his wife Elizabeth. The Memoirs contain Donald's Sole experiences as a South African diplomat of Foreign Service for over 40 years.

The African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) was re-established on 27 October 1990 in Soweto. The South African Youth Congress (SAYCO) and the ANC Youth Section, which had operated in exile, merged at this launch. The main task of the Youth League was to mobilise all sectors of the youth into active participation in the struggle to secure democracy.
The collection of 41 folio photographs includes photographs from the late 1970s to the early 1990s from photographers Karen Fletcher, David Goldblatt, Jenny Gordon, Ingrid Hudson, Lesley Lawson, Gideon Mendel, Santu Mofokeng, Ken Oosterbroek, Graeme Williams, Gisele Wulfsohn and Anna Zieminski.
