Popular resentment towards a candidate for the Indian House of Parliament expressed in graffiti. Mr Osman received so few votes in the August 1984 elections he lost his election deposit.

Anti-election protesters barred from attending a campaign meeting in Ravensmead

Anti election demonstrators were prevented from attending a meeting organised by the South African Labour Party during the campaign for the coloured house of representatives in the tricameral elections. The coloured candidates used the police to discourage any questions from dissidents who managed to slip into the hall. Ravensmead, Cape Town.
