Autograph letter by David Livingstone to Bishop Gray, Shupunga

Livingstone's address to a great meeting of the Senate House at Cambridge in 1857 was directly responsible for the founding of the Universities' Mission to Central Africa and Livingstone accompanied Bishop MacKenzie in exploring the Shire heights to find a suitable location for the mission. This letter refers to the difficulties of the mission and to the death of Mary Moffat Livingstone, his wife.
