St. John's Hostel, Cape Town

Letters from the boys and staff to C.T.W. - Warden of St. John's and Father Harris - when they were granted leave of absence for 4 months to go overseas. The Rev. A.W. McCay, Sub-Warden, acted in Charge (Michael), the now matron and reports of her good cooking improvements at the hostel. 2 photos - one a Christmas card 1951 signed by the boys, the other, a sports team with cups. Again, from 1951 while serving overseas, the boys wrote re boxing, visit to the General Botha Camp, stamp collecting, cricket, Sets, studies and exam results, painting and repairing of Hostel, Van Riebeeck Festival, sports, marriages and jobs, holidays, the Coronation, Mr Fleischer - new Warden, boys' plans for the future, Fleischer's ordination and ex St. John's boys.
