Correspondence and despatches to Lord Rosmead. Lagden was Government Secretary and Accountant in 1884, was appointed Assistant Commissioner in 1885 to Sir Marshall Clarke. He established a magistracy in Masupha's country in 1886. In 1890 he acted as Resident Commissioner and was Resident Commissioner from 1893-1901.
