Shocked Progressive Federal Party (PFP) workers react to the news of the loss of another PFP constituency to the National Party (NP) as results were broadcast over national television. The PFP lost a total of six seats in the whites only election, as well as their status as the official opposition in Parliament. Johannesburg 6 May 1987.

Striking railways workers sign back on to work after the end of the biggest (about 18000 workers), and longest (3 months) strike in the history of South African public service. The victory for members of the S.A. Harbour and the Railway Workers Union came after months of police harassment and conflict which left a number of workers dead and many detained.
