South African Institute of International Affairs

Rheinallt Jones was a member of the Institute. Papers include the constitution, circular letters, some correspondence and the reportsof the monthly meetings at which many eminent speakers discussed topics such as: problems of international civil aviation; Japan; the political and economic significance of the Kalahari; post-war France; the British colonial civil service; the Indian political situation; the position in the Middle East, etc. The Institute was also engaged in a research project on Africa south of the Sahara. The papers include the reports of the many participants. Rheinallt Jones' contribution was a paper on Human Resources (C56/43).

Other topics covered are: natural resources, mines and industries, transport and communications, economy and politics, etc.

Correspondence covers such topics as the feeding of African children, health services, care of the handicapped, juvenile delinquency, etc.
