Caroline Motsoaledi, the wife of Rivonia trialist Elias Motsoaledi, has her hair permed at 5pm on the 14th October prior to his release on 15 October 1989.
Teacher, Colin Cairncross (22) , is hoisted shoulder high by jubilant supporters after being given a 5 year suspended prison sentence for aiding the outlawed African National Congress (ANC). Ten other men were jailed for a total of 83 years for their involvement in guerilla attacks in the Western Cape.
