Hansard extract from 1977, typed with handwritten notes, and photocopy of 2 pages of Hansard of 05/04/1960 replying to Helen Suzman questions concerning Sharpeville shootings; in the 1977 extract Helen Suzman mentions that she had read "that the Minister had said to a newspaperman that the reason why South African police were not properly equipped [in Soweto in 1976] was that South Africans like to be unencumbered and, according to him, in the Western desert [in World War II] our men wore very short shorts. And I then asked him what the Hon. Minister knew about what our men wore in the Western desert.".
