Biographical history

Richard (Rick) Turner was a South African academic, educationist and theorist, who was murdered by the South African security forces in 1978. His killing was part of the public hearings at the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC), where members of the former security cluster were forced to testify.

The papers were deposited by Rick Turner's second wife Foszia Fisher-Turner, which was facilitated by Susanne Klausen.

Scope and content

The collection contains the personal and working papers of Richard (Rick) Turner, a South African academic, educationist and theorist, who was murdered by the South African security forces in 1978. His killing was part of the public hearings at the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC), where members of the former security cluster were forced to testify.
The collection also contains the Foszia Fisher-Turner papers, including material relating to the Institute for Industrial Education (IIE) papers, South African Labour Bulletin (SALB), diary on philosophy, and other material.
