Scope and content
From W.A. Schoch, to his son, H.E. Schoch. Says all well at Rustenburg and that his son's house is untouched although Boers stole all horse fodder. Both English and Boers have plundered. Tells of Boer occupation and English attack under Kitchener. He stopped English looting by threatening to complain to superiors. Invited impertinent Lt. Skene to dinner who apologised for his previous conduct, gave receipt for forage and stopped further looting. Boers returned but very demoralised and soon English back again. All now behave well but permits required for everything.
