N Dayal and L Hassell approached the LRC for assistance following incidents of assault and intimidation by members of the Afrikaaner Weerstandsbeweging and Conservative Party following the purchase of a house in Mayfair West. The members of the Afrikaaner Weerstandsbeweging and Conservative Party did not want the client, an Indian man, to move into the area. He and the estate agent were assaulted and their property damaged. The LRC advised the clients that the police were going to charge them with contravening the Group Areas Act and that the other parties were to be charged with assault and damage to property.
