AMPLATS Conflict

The research into the conflict was carried out in 2000/2001 at the Anglo American Platinum Corporation (AMPLATS), as part of the work of the Conflict Resolution Consortium (CRC), which was commissioned by the North West Provincial government. The brief of the research was to examine incidents of violence related to the NUM / WMPU conflict at the AMPLATS mines, which began in 1996.

Assessment of Bosniac-Croat Federation

Documents relating to a study in 1995, conducted by a highly internationally acclaimed mission of American and European donor organisations, which was to evaluate how the Bosniac-Croat Federation can be strengthened and developed, and to support reconciliation between the Bosniacs and Croats. Graeme Simpson was identified by the National Democratic Institute (NDI), Washington, US, to be part of the political team, which gave input about major trends relevant to the Bosniac-Croat Federation -.

Capacity Building Collaboration Project

This project started in 2004 and aimed to address challenges and focus on both women's practical and strategic needs in relation to gender violence services. It was set to strengthen the gender violence sector by building partnerships and networks between NGOs (Non-Governmental Organisation) and CBOs (Community-based Organisation), in increasing organisations' capacity to deal with instances of gender-based violence by equipping them with information, training and skills.

City Safety Project

The project was established in January 2000 with the support of the Open Society Foundation of South Africa. It aimed to enhance the capacity of urban local authorities to improve safety and security, to contribute to knowledge about safety and to increase capacity for law enforcement and crime prevention. The project worked with the metropolitan councils of Johannesburg, Tshwane (Pretoria), Durban, Cape Town, Ekurhuleni (East Rand) and the Nelson Mandela Metro (Port Elizabeth). The "Urban Futures Conference" held in Johannesburg in June 2000 approached CSVR to arrange a series of discussions on urban safety.
