The Historical Papers Archive received the records of the CSVR in 2007, representing the work of the CSVR through its projects and programmes. It should be noted, that the material received is quite patchy and does not cover the full extent of the work done in the various Units and of all the projects and programmes of the CSVR exhaustively, gaps will have to be filled through subsequent archival deposits. Also, reference is made to the CSVR's TRC collection in an earlier collection received by SAHA, collection number AL3110.

The collection consists of 14 reels microfilmed material on corruption and governance related issues, collected by Marianne Camerer for her Doctoral dissertation "Testing the system - democracy on trial: corruption and reform in democratic South Africa". It has been microfilmed for the Cooperative Africana Microform Project by OCLC Preservation Resources, c2006. Included are political cartoons, newspaper articles, parliamentary records, Auditor-General reports, Public protector reports, commissions of inquiry, investigative reports, interviews, conference proceedings, policy documents, survey material, journal articles, court records and court testimony.

The Papers of Dr John Seiler cover two broad areas: the first is American foreign policy regarding Southern Africa, particularly Angola, from the period following World War II to the mid-1970s, including declassified United States Government documents. The second area concerns matters of local governance and democracy in South Africa during the period of transition (mid-1990s).

This collection consists mainly of court records from various trials, which were handled by the LRC in Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban and Cape Town.

The collection contains the records of the Community of the Resurrection, with strong emphasis on Rosettenville and Sophiatown in Johannesburg.

The collection contains 62 interviews with representatives from labour and corporate relating to the auto industry in South Africa, particularly the German company Volkswagen. It also contains his PhD thesis, which he submitted in 2005 and for which the interviews were conducted.

An important part of our history that has seriously been neglected is non-racial sports. This was a crucial facet of the anti-apartheid struggle and, crucially, was probably the most effective arena of independent and community-based sports in black communities. Moreover, non-racial sports was intrinsically linked to communities and their schools, and depended heavily on voluntarism for its enduring success.

This project aims to recover, record, preserve and popularize this rich and multi-faceted history as an ongoing narrative.

One of the main role players, the South African Council on Sport (SACOS) was formed on 17 March 1973 to co-ordinate the fight against racial discrimination in sport and to promote non-racial sport in a non-racial and democratic SA.It consisted of 24 national non-racial sports organisations and 11 co-ordination Provincial Councils of Sport,of which the Transvaal Council of Sport (TRACOS) was one of them.
