The Anglican Church of Southern Africa, previously known as the Church of the Province of Southern Africa, is the province of the Anglican Communion in Southern Africa. Its primate is the Archbishop of Cape Town. The church includes dioceses in present day South Africa, Mozambique, Namibia, Angola, Lesotho, Swaziland and St. Helena.
An agreement was signed in 1937 between the Church of the Province of South Africa (CPSA) - now known as the Anglican Church of Southern Africa (ACSA) - and the University of the Witwatersrand, whereby the church's central record library was places on loan with the University. The library consisted of books, pamphlets, periodicals and manuscripts. The richness of the Anglican Church's manuscript collection is due to the efforts of the provincial archivists appointed by the church to collect material and transfer it to the university. The first, 1937-1957, was Father Osmund Victor, followed by Canon Cecil Thomas Wood from 1958-1979. Mrs AR Kotze then took over from 1979-2000, until Carol Archibald was appointed as Provincial Archivist in 2001.

William Bramley, which my father, Mr. Henry Ramsden Bramley, wishes to donate to the Church of the Province of South Africa archives. I have, at last, sorted through the papers, and enclose the following items: [Inventory of items].All these items were preserved by Henry Bramley, eldest son of Rev. William Bramley, and were passed on to his nephew, my father, Mr. Henry Ramsden Bramley, who was the sole male heir in the Bramley family.I give below what little information I have about Rev. William Bramley and his family. [See Biographical sketch].I trust that the above information will be of use to you. Please let me know if you require any additional information. Biographical and administrative history: Of his children, Amelia married William Carl Landsbury Daly on 2 July 1891 at Christ Church, Swellendam. There were four children, one of whom died young. Elizabeth married William Wright at St. John's Church, Bathurst on 19 April 1893 and they had seven children. Lionel Bramley married Louisa Josina Muller on 11 April 1907 and they had three children: Rosamond, b. 17 October 1907, (now Mrs. Rosamond Oosthuizen)(Note: address omitted); Vincent, b. 2 December 1908 - died 31 July 1909; and Henry Ramsden, D. 6 May 1910.
