Nora's father, John Richards, was descended from old Settler stock.

This file includes pictures, press cuttings on John Richards and his son, Jack; a letter to Jack from his brother, C.P. Richards; Letter, 21 October, Norvals Pont, written during the Anglo-Boer War from Charlie to his parents.

Various documents, relating to John Richards, such as:

Masonic documents: 1) 27 October, 1864; 2) 25 October, 1873; 3) 22 May, 1875; 4) 3 February, 1876.

Military documents: 1) appointment of John Richards as Lieutenant in the Beaufort Rangers, 30 September, 1876; 2) Appointment of John Richards as Captain in the beau fort Rangers, 20 February, 1878; 3) and 4) two documents addressed to the officer commanding the Beaufort Rangers calling up this regiment for active service. Documents are dated 12 January 1881 and 6 April 1881 and are signed by Sir George Strahan (administrator) and Governor Herculis Robinson respectively. Both documents are signed by the Colonial Secretary, J. Gordon Sprigg.
