The collection of the Young Christian Students (YCS) includes records relating to reports, minutes of the meetings, documents on projects, workshops, conferences, publications, posters, correspondence, educational material on of higher education transformation, the 1994 elections, international Christian students organisations and other South African youth organisations cooperating with the YCS.

The collection material covers the years 1970 to 2002. Much of the material consists of copies with some exceptions. In co-operation with a large number of non-governmental organisations involved in human rights issues an extensive collection of reports, publications, pamphlets, telegrams and telexes, newsletters and letters was collected.

Later material, particularly in the Truth and Reconciliation Commission section was added from Internet news services and the TRC web site. There are a few letters from and to Kairos, but the bulk of the collection is Kairos' research and resource material. Kairos also developed a database and researched reports on detention, torture and deaths in detention for the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. Kairos research reports and publications are to be found in most of the sections.

Kairos has also donated audio-visual tapes of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission hearings. A list of these is available at Historical Papers. A small collection of ephemera consists of campaign buttons, stickers and postcards. A collection of posters contains campaign posters and a series of exhibition posters. Books donated by Kairos have been added to the Africana Library.

The Papers comprise personal documents, correspondence and press clippings as well as material on political, social, economic and religious issues in South Africa from the 1960 up to 2007. There are documents on gun control in South Africa, the death penalty, human rights, peace and non-violence, communities projects, womens and youth programmes, local government elections and the role of the South African Church during the apartheid era.

The papers illustrate Sheena Duncans important contribution in church and social matters. She donated this collection to Historical Papers in 2006.

Records relating to Provincial and Episcopal synods, Provincial Standing Committee, Provincial Commissions, other church organisations, relations with other churches and bodies, with the Anglican Church overseas and the Lambeth Conference, dealings with the media and with the various Dioceses. This collection has no final date as further additions will be made.

The collection contains material relating to activities of associations in South Africa, which promoted solidarity with Cuba. Records include: minutes of the meetings, reports, financial statements, information and reports on conferences, work brigades to Cuba, newspaper clippings, speeches, publications and photographs.

Trial records are all cases of alleged murder of husbands by wives who had suffered domestic abuse and violence.

The records include petitions for clemency because of the abuse suffered by the perpetrators prior to the crime.
